3-4 outside linebacker
Stats to know:
–No. 38 pass-rush grade among edge defenders in the class. 4 sacks, 6 hits, 21 hurries. No. 17 pass-rush productivity rating among 3-4 OLBs.
–No. 9 run-defense grade. 26 defensive stops. No. 4 run-stop percentage among 3-4 OLBs at 9.2 percent, higher than teammate Leonard Floyd (No. 5).
–No. 14 overall grade against Power-5 opponents.
What he does best:
–Almost identical grades over two seasons (+55.4 combined) with just one penalty in 1343 snaps over that span.
–Strong, long arms with good leverage at the point of attack. Can bully tight ends one on one. Played well against South Carolina’s Jerell Adams, one of the top run-blocking TEs. Adams had his worst run-blocking grade of the season against Georgia.
–Rip move is his go-to pass rush move.
–Can also win with power — bull rushes accounted for more than 20 percent of his graded pass rushes.
–Average athlete, which is especially evident when you see Leonard Floyd playing beside him on Georgia’s defense.
–Spent little time in coverage (26 snaps of 246 passing snaps). Not great when he did drop into coverage.
–Production was somewhat inconsistent, and there were a lot of games during which he didn’t stand out. However, at his worst he was still around average. His best game by far (Vanderbilt) came against one of the lowest-graded right tackles in college football.
–Upright pad level at times, saw him moved against combo and double teams.
–He was much more productive rushing from the defensive left side against right tackles, although he spent more time on the other side.
Jenkins graded well over last two years against SEC, power-5 competition, although his grade was slightly inflated by a mammoth Vanderbilt game in 2015. He’s not a Von Miller-type athlete and didn’t grade that well as a pass rusher. Could see more impact against the run.
