NFL teams shouldn't be locked in on guard for Forrest Lamp

  • Western Kentucky offensive lineman Forrest Lamp is seen by many as a better prospect at guard than tackle due to concerns about his arm length, which measured in at 32 1/4 inches at the NFL Combine.
  • Notable offensive tackles with similar arm length include Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas (32 1/2 inches) and former Miami Dolphins No. 1 overall pick Jake Long (32 7/8 inches). Both had multiple seasons where they graded inside the top five tackles in the NFL.
  • Another knock on him is level of competition, but against the vaunted Alabama pass rush, he allowed just one pressure on 40 pass-blocking attempts.
  • Over the past three seasons, Lamp has allowed just three sacks, nine hits and 18 hurries from 1,622 pass blocking snaps. Working out at a pressure once every 54.1 pass-blocking snaps and a sack just once every 540 pass-blocking snaps.
