Current roster:
- Darius Slay has been a known commodity, grading in the top 20 at his position for three consecutive seasons including a career-best 87.0 overall grade in 2015.
- In 2016 Slay graded as the 17th-best corner (83.4 overall) in the NFL. His 11.6 cover snaps per reception allowed also ranked 17th as well as his 0.97 yards allowed per coverage snap.
- Nevin Lawson’s play elevated in 2016, grading as the 37th-best corner (77.1 overall) out of 111 corners that played at least 325 snaps.
- Lawson’s 0.82 yards allowed per coverage snap ranked eighth among CBs. His 12.6 cover snaps per reception allowed ranked 12th.
- Quandre Diggs (49.5 overall grade) ranked 95th among 111 corners and D.J. Hayden (48.6) ranked 96th).
- The remaining five CBs on the roster played just 345 snaps last season combined. Alex Carter, Charles Washington, and Ian Wells have yet to see the field at all.
2017 draft:
- This draft is rich with top cornerback prospects. 18 of PFF’s top 100 are corners.
- The Lions hosted PFF’s No. 40 overall player Teez Tabor for a pre-draft visit. Tabor allowed an NFL passer rating of just 41.2 over the past three years.
