Derek Barnett every bit as productive as Myles Garrett rushing the passer

  • Over three years of college grading, Tennessee’s Derek Barnett has outgained Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett in total pressures (187 to 164) and sacks (34 to 31) in the SEC.
  • Barnett’s pressure total has increased each of the past two seasons, while Garrett’s highest mark was back in 2014.
  • Barnett’s 78 total pressures in 2016 is 13 higher than Garrett has posted in a single season and the second-highest figure in the nation this season (Hunter Dimick, 83)
  • Over three seasons, Barnett has generated pressure once every 6.0 pass-rushes. Garrett has done it a fraction more often at once every 5.9 pass-rushes as he has seen fewer snaps on the field.
