  • Chris Chester’s retirement leaves a hole at guard in Atlanta’s offensive line, a position where beyond starter Andy Levitre, Atlanta’s current players have almost no NFL experience.
  • Last year under Kyle Shanahan, the Falcons ran 43 percent outside zone and 27 percent inside zone runs, and are expected to run a similar offense in 2017.
  • Listed below are five guards who are potential zone-scheme fits and where they were drafted in PFF’s Live Mock Draft. (Atlanta has picks 31, 63, 95, 136, 174, and 249)
    • Forrest Lamp (20), Taylor Moton (38), Dan Feeney (48), Danny Isidora (112), Dorian Johnson (135)
  • Neither Forrest Lamp nor Dorian Johnson allowed a pressure on a three-step drop in 2016, a dropback type that Atlanta used third most of all NFL teams last year (23.5 percent).
