2018 Prospect Preview: Ogbonnia Okoronkwo looks to build off his breakout 2016

  • After playing just 93 defensive snaps in 2015, Oklahoma edge rusher Ogbonnia Okoronkwo broke out in a big way in 2016. The redshirt-senior had the highest grade of all returning Big 12 edge rushers checking in at 87.9.
  • Okoronkwo certainly showed the ability to cause disruption as his 59 total quarterback pressures are far and away the most by a returning Big 12 edge rusher.
  • In terms of pass-rush productivity, the 6-foot, 242-pound Okoronkwo ranks second among all returning 3-4 outside linebackers with a PRP of 18.6. When rushing from the right, his pass-rush productivity of 19.5 was the highest among all 3-4 outside linebackers who had 100 or more pass-rush snaps from that side.
  • One aspect of Okornokwo's game to watch in 2017 is his tackling. Against the run, he recorded a 6.4 tackling efficiency mark, which was one of the lowest figures among qualifying Big 12 outside linebackers.
