2018 Prospect Preview: Mayfield returns as one of the nation's best QBs

Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield returns to Norman for his senior season as one of the nation’s best quarterbacks having been near the top of every one of PFF’s signature statistic for quarterbacks. Mayfield finished third in Heisman voting last season and is a Day 1 projection by PFF.
Mayfield’s overall PFF grade of 96.1 ranked No. 1 among all quarterbacks last season and was the highest grade by a quarterback in the PFF era (2014-current).
With an overall adjusted completion percentage of 79.8 last season, Mayfield ranked No. 1 among returning FBS quarterbacks. Mayfield didn’t rank outside the top five in any of the four categories PFF measures adjusted completion percentage: overall, deep passing, under pressure and kept clean.
Mayfield led the country with a 119.2 passer rating when under pressure and a passer rating of 139.2 when kept clean. He ranked in the top 15 in each of the categories PFF measures passer rating: deep passing, under pressure, kept clean, play action and no play action.
