2018 Prospect Preview: Lavon Coleman is much more than a backup running back

  • Washington’s No. 2 back behind junior Myles Gaskin, senior Lavon Coleman managed to put on a show last season despite having played under Gaskin’s shadow. He forced 30 missed tackles, which ranked No. 3 among returning Pac-12 running backs with less than 125 carries.
  • Coleman earned the top grade in the 2018 draft class on gap runs in 2016, outshining Gaskin and all other draft-eligible running backs.
  • Showing off some of his long-distance speed, Coleman recorded 14 runs of 15 yards or more last season, ranking No. 3 among that same group of running backs.
  • A former three-star recruit out of Lompoc, California, Coleman earned a 101.5 elusive rating in 2016, which ranked No. 6 among returning Pac-12 running backs with at least 100 carries.
