2018 Prospect Preview: Huskies QB Jake Browning & play action are a harmonious match

  • University of Washington QB Jake Browning enters the 2017 college football season as one of the premier passers in the Pac-12. Browning’s performances last season has earned him a Day 3 PFF draft projection, to which he could still improve vastly on.
  • Browning utilized play action very well last season throwing for 14 touchdowns against just one interception. His passer rating of 142.8 on play action ranks second among draft-eligible QBs with only Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield earning a higher rating.
  • Browning was one of the most dangerous deep passers last year as he led all Pac-12 quarterbacks with 34 completions, 1,192 yards and 17 touchdowns on deep passes in 2016 (a deep pass is a pass that is targeted 20 or more yards downfield).
  • With an adjusted completion percentage of 54.2 under pressure Browning ranks 52nd in the draft class. In 2017, Browning will need show he can better handle pressure and maintain his success on the long ball despite losing WR John Ross to the NFL.
