- Kansas Jayhawks edge defender Dorance Armstrong Jr. will enter the 2017 college football season as one of the more fearsome pass-rushers in the country. Armstrong had a breakout season in 2016 finishing second in the Big 12 with 11 sacks and leading one of the best defensive lines in the conference. He has earned himself a Day 3 PFF draft projection.
- Armstrong rushed the passer extremely well in 2016, his pass-rush productivity (PRP) of 11.6 ranks No. 2 in the Big 12 and No. 23 among all draft-eligible edge defenders. His 47 total pressures on 329 pass-rush snaps were the second-most of any Big 12 defender last season (PRP measures pressure created on a per snap basis with weighting towards sacks).
- Armstrong was at his best getting to the passer on 3rd down, notching a PRP of 20.4, No. 7 in the draft class.
- To rise up draft boards even further next season, Armstrong must improve his run stopping ability. Armstrong was only able to amass 23 stops in run defense on 405 run snaps for a run stop percentage of 5.7, which ranked No. 69 in this year’s draft class.
