Last week's picks did well. Alex Smith finished sixth in fantasy points among quarterbacks. Todd Gurley was the week’s top fantasy running back. Darren McFadden had 113 total yards. Charcandrick West finished second in fantasy points among running backs. Stefon Diggs caught six balls for 95 yards and a touchdown. And, Michael Floyd finished with 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
That’s not bad for a bunch of cheap players! If you rostered a combination of them, you likely finished in great shape. If you played them with the right high-priced superstars, your stars-and-scrubs strategy might have put you near the top of the GPP leader boards.
After sorting through this week’s price sheets, I’ve found some valuable players for your Week 9 rosters. As I do every week, I used my prediction models—which I’ve written about in the past—to find the players with the most value at each position on all three major DFS sites. I also accounted for injuries and matchups when I made my picks.
Most of the well-known fantasy studs and superstars have been excluded. Even though I think many of them have a lot of value this week, I don’t think it’s necessary to explain why.
Now, lets dive into some of my most value picks for Week 9. I’ve included many of the players’ projected floor and ceiling scores (PPR). They give us clear indication of who has good GPP potential (high ceiling), and who should be used primarily in cash games (high floor). The prices listed below each player are the ones I consider to be a good values this week.
Quarterbacks
Derek Carr (GPP) at Steelers
Carr has hit his stride over the past two weeks. He scored the third-most fantasy points (53) among quarterbacks. He also scored the second-most fantasy points per drop back (0.77). The only quarterback to throw more touchdowns than Carr (7) was Drew Brees (8).
He will be facing one of the worst passing defenses this week. The Steelers defense’s pass coverage rating (-23.8) is 31st in the league. They have given up an average of 284.3 passing yards per game this season. This is a promising matchup for Carr. His floor is eight points, and his ceiling is 30. He is a great value for both cash games and GPP.
