- In his first action as a Minnesota Viking, albeit preseason, rookie running back Dalvin Cook was used extensively throughout the first quarter and into the second, seeing 18 total snaps before leaving the field for the night.
- While he had five carries, what really stood out was that the Vikings utilized him on passing downs too, with the bulk of his playing time coming as a receiver. He made an impact in that role too, averaging 2.91 yards per route run on the 12 snaps where he ran a route.
- In his time at Florida State, Cook was rarely used as a receiver, and was targeted on just 45 of the 331 plays he ran a route, but if the preseason opener was anything to go by, he's going to be utilized as a three down weapon for the Vikings in 2017.
