RBs Kelvin Taylor – Florida Gators

The transfer of RB Adam Lane, arguably the Gators most efficient back in 2014, provided lucidity to the carry distribution as, outside of a trio of true freshman, their backfield will have a grand total of three carries to their combined resume. That is, outside of the 115 career carries from Taylor, who should have a clear path to potentially doubling that total. The running game will need to overcome 2,882 snaps along the offensive line, as well as filling those gaps with two freshman, and two sophomores. HC Jim McElwin's Colorado State squad finished with the 69th-ranked rushing offense in '14, but that was a result of volume as they recorded a solid 4.76 AVG.

As the son of the former Gator and Jacksonville Jaguar great, Fred Taylor, Kelvin came to Gainesville with lofty expectations as a five-star recruit in 2013. In the two years since, he has only been held back by volume, as he posted a +3.8 rushing-specific CFF grade in '14, and recorded 508 rushing yards (4.60 AVG) as a true freshman. At 5’10”, 205 pounds and a 40-time of 4.57, Taylor would be in line for a big season if the team can generate stability at quarterback. While his 33.0 ER could stand to see a boost, a 35.6 B% is quite solid, and he had zero fumbles among 115 carries.

Backup of Significance: Jordan Scarlett (game tape)

Bottom Line: Look for Taylor after the 10th-round in redrafts and be sure that you track his career  closely in devy-formats considering his fathers impressive career. Coach McElwain has already stated that he will only burn Scarlett's redshirt if he intends to allot him a decent role and that is enough to add him to your watch list, as well.
