The Cowboys snagged OC Mike Yurcich from Shippensburg University following the 2012 season after coordinating the FCS team to a fusillading dominance of Raider opponents. HC Mike Gundy hand-picked Coach Yurcich with the clear intention of having the coordinator learn his version of the Air Raid spread and not the opposite. Mid-season struggles were blamed on Coach Yurcich without providing him the obvious time needed to adjust to the unorthodox approach.
