The 2005 Texas Longhorns were the last team in the Big 12 Conference to take home the national championship by defeating USC 41-38 in the Rose Bowl. Head coach Mack Brown's team was led by senior QB Vince Young, who accumulated an impressive 3,000+/1,000+ yards passing/rushing combination, leading to a No. 3 selection in the 2006 NFL draft. The school developed an impressive total of 24 players from that championship team that eventually found their way onto NFL rosters.
With part one of the Big 12 running back breakdown in the books, we'll now shift focus to part two of the conference running back analysis to pinpoint their potential value to DFS (FanDuel and DraftKings), redraft, and devy formats.
RBs Rennie Childs / Chris Carson – Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Cowboys stumbled into a 5-5 record that included a four-game losing streak with Daxx Garman under center. Then HC Mike Gundy made the decision to dissolve the redshirt of four-star QB Mason Rudolph, who subsequently led the team to a 2-1 record to finish out the season. While the passing offense greatly improved, the running game continued to see middling results.
