If you doubled down on the Dolphins last week, you were probably pretty happy with the way their defense played against a Texans offense that couldn’t get anything going. It didn’t help that the Texans were already down 41-0 at halftime, but as good as Tannehill and the Dolphins offense looked this past weekend, the defense looked equally as impressive. Ndamukong Suh had two sacks and Reshad Jones had his second interception returned for a touchdown in as many weeks. If it weren’t for the Dolphins pulling most of their starters and some garbage time points from Houston, they could have put up even more fantasy points.
The tricky thing is to find the right defense to play after a big point-scoring week. It would be easy to pick the team facing the 49ers, who rank last in the NFL in points scored per game, every week. You need to know when to ride momentum, when to fade a team that might be a popular pick in DFS games, and when a defense is playing it’s best football and can boost your roster and make it a winner.
The Dolphins are on a roll under Dan Campbell, but they’ll be facing Tom Brady and the Patriots this week. While I think their defense will play well, I wouldn’t go so far as to suggest starting them in Foxboro. However, there are a few teams you should consider doubling down on after a strong performance last week.
