Bowling Green stack a strong play in Week 4

If last week said anything about the landscape of college football, it’s that you can’t take anything for granted. Just because Alabama is at home, against what we assumed to be a flash-in-the-pan team in Ole Miss, doesn’t mean they are going to just run over the Rebels like everybody assumed. Just because USC has one of the best quarterbacks in the country doesn’t mean they are going to beat a Stanford team that always gives the Trojans problems. Just because you say you can stop Leonard Fournette doesn’t mean he isn’t going to flip you over his back and run for 228 yards and three touchdowns.

Last week also said something about the landscape of college football DFS games. Just because you were a perceived Heisman hopeful doesn’t mean you are going to keep your starting job if you play for a big time program. Just because you’re a 28.5 point underdog doesn’t mean your stats count any less than the big dogs. We also learned that perhaps moreso than in the NFL, the big names in college football tend to produce big numbers. Along with Fournette, Heisman front runners Trevone Boykin and Nick Chubb also had big games and validated their high price tag in all DFS formats.

The best strategy in CFB DFS games is to lock in on a few big names with good matchups and use them, but also to find those value picks that can help pad your roster with points and have the potential to break through and really make you some money. This week, there are a lot of good options as the college slate begins to feature more and more conference rivalries.

Key Matchups to Watch

I still favor matchups that Vegas thinks will be high scoring games. The most notable of those games this week is the TCU vs. Texas Tech game that has an O/U of (an unheard of) 80.5 points. While the top receivers are going to cost you most of your salary, there is some value if you look down the depth chart for both of these teams. Some other games I like projected to be high scoring games are Bowling Green vs. Purdue and Massachusetts vs. Notre Dame.
