A Fantasy Throwdown Week Nine Line Bind

Decisions. Decisions. After having an off week going an overall 4-5 falling to fourth overall atop the Fantasy Throwdown leader board we are looking at a few different match-ups that will help the climb back to the top. With too many match-ups to run down player by player we'll touch on some specific players from several games that could help you pull off a Fantasy Throwdown victory this week.

Chris Johnson (-0.8) is leading the league in rushing over the past five weeks and is averaging 5.6 yards per carry yards over that same five game stretch. However Johnson faces a number one ranked Chicago Bears rushing attack that is limiting opponents to a meager 78 yards rushing per game. Something has to give here but with the Bears loading the box more times than not if Johnson is able to get to the second level on a few runs he could end up breaking more than a couple for substantial games. While we don’t recommend a start here for Johnson if you haven’t the bench depth to supplant Johnson then start him with confidence as back in week four the Titans running back managed 141 rushing yards against a then top rated Houston Texans rushing defense.

The New York Giants pass defense has allowed nine passing touchdowns in four games at home. If the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves playing from behind then Ben Roethlisberger (21.2) could end up with solid fantasy stats. Roethlisberger by far has capitalized on his passing between the numbers. Between zero and twenty yards down the middle of the field Big Ben has completed 89 passes for 1067 yards and seven touchdowns. The 81% completion percentage between the numbers has undoubtedly been a benefit to Steelers tight end Heath Miller (8.6) has been the most productive receiving option over the past three weeks as he continues his pro bowl campaign. Miller is accountable for 22% of Roethlisberger’s pass between the numbers also hauling in four of the seven touchdowns generated within the Steelers offensive hot zone. The Giants are giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to tight ends and the ninth-most to wide receivers so expect New York Giants cornerback Corey Webster, who is yielding a 59% catch percentage, to match-up against Steelers wide-out Mike Wallace (-4.3) who could end up matching up nicely against a Giants cornerback that has allowed the 5th most receiving yards in the NFL.
