5 things to watch for in Week 3

If you heeded my advice on all five trends from Week 2, you were in good shape. Looking ahead to Week 3, here are five key trends to look out for:

1. Under Fire: Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson has been pressured on 34 dropbacks, fourth-most in the league. But what sets Wilson apart from his peers is his ability to use his legs to buy time and deliver a strike, as he is currently third among quarterbacks in completion percentage (.722) when under pressure. Conversely, Andrew Luck is tied for 30th in the league in that department (.375) and has been pressured a league-high 38 times, hence the Colts’ offensive struggles.

So, Wilson has demonstrated the ability to react to pressure, find the hot read and deliver a pinpoint throw (he was the sixth-most accurate passer against pressure in 2014). And after leading all quarterbacks with 854 yards and six touchdowns on the ground last season, Wilson has shown no hesitation to take off running so far this season. He is averaging nine carries per tilt and is coming off a 78-yard rushing effort (7.8 YPC) against Green Bay. Put simply, it is that combination of skills that makes Wilson an elite fantasy quarterback.
