It’s easy to look at the box scores and make conclusions about fantasy performance, but the numbers often don’t tell the whole story. Each week, I’ll dig a little deeper and pull out some need-to-know stats that will help you dominate your league.
1. Blake Bortles went 7-of-10 for 200 yards and two scores on passes of 20 yards or more downfield.
Both Bortles’ attempts and completions were league highs for Week 9. Only Drew Brees had more air yards passing, and he just barely edged Bortles 260-259. While much of the talk around the water cooler is about Derek Carr’s year-two progress, Bortles has also shown marked improvement and currently sits as the No. 12 quarterback in our new 100-point scale player grades here at PFF. With a juicy Week 10 matchup against a Ravens secondary that has yielded fantasy points in bunches to opposing quarterbacks, Bortles is an ideal streamer in season-long leagues and a cost-effective DFS option.
