This article is a mental purge as I go through the wealth of data that is collected by the great game analysts at Pro Football Focus. That data is transformed into fantasy metrics and I did a number of regression-type studies on different statistics this off-season. Some are likely to continue, others are bound to come back to earth. Here are some interesting data points from the first 15 weeks of the season:
Quarterbacks
Ben Roethlisberger has been pretty much under the radar this season. Quietly, he is having one of his best, if not the best, efficient seasons of his career. He is completing more than 63% of his passes for a second straight year and his TD rate is the highest since 2007. After an interception rate of more than 7.0% in three of the last four seasons, Roethlisberger has one of just 4.2% this season. He has missed three games in the heart of the season, but sits at QB8 in PPG, between Matt Ryan and Andrew Luck. All of this production despite a new offense, injuries along the offensive line, and a down year from Mike Wallace.
