We now have four potential LB1s on the sidelines in Luke Kuechly, DeAndre Levy, Mychal Kendricks and Kiko Alonso, so this week will focus a little more than usual on the linebacker position to help shore up those rosters that are suffering after the first three weeks.
Linebackers
The Eagles turned to veteran Demeco Ryans and rookie Jordan Hicks this week, and it is Hicks who has emerged as the preferred option. Hicks out-snapped Ryans 79 to 56, playing 100 percent of defensive snaps, and recorded 10 total tackles (nine solo), as well as an interception.
This comes off the back of his seven solo tackles and a sack the week before. Mychal Kendricks (hamstring) is not expected to miss an extended period, while Kiko Alonso (ACL) could still miss the rest of the season. If that’s the case, I expect Hicks to partner with Kendricks as the Eagles inside linebacker for the rest of the year. Hicks should be one of the top IDP pickups this week.
