Wednesday and Thursday I was in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at Wofford College to watch Panthers training camp as they prepared for Friday's preseason opener against the Bears. I overheard one player annoyed that the team had a full practice the day before a preseason game, but it worked out well for me as I was able to see a lot of full team work.
Revamped Offense
Mike Shula is the new offensive coordinator in Carolina, and I was excited to see how the offense would change under his watch. On Wednesday the team spent most of their full team segments working out of 11 personnel in the gun. DeAngelo Williams was the single back with Greg Olsen at tight end. Shula has stated that this year's offense will be similar to the style the team ran late in the year last season. He's simplified the system some for Cam Newton and wants him to be “comfortable.”
