Jason Babin‘s career took a turn for the worse in Jacksonville, recording a -6.7 overall grade in 21 games for the Jaguars, thanks in large part to a -8.8 run defense grade. However a move to the New York Jets, coupled with a position switch (from defensive end in a 4-3, to outside linebacker in a 3-4) have helped Babin get back to his best; his +13.3 overall grade is the seventh-best in the league at the position.
With a cumulative +72.8 pass rushing grade since 2007 Babin has always impressed as a pass rusher, so it's no surprise to see him make an impact as a rotational pass rusher for the Jets. Babin has recorded three sacks and 31 total pressures on his way to a +5.5 pass rush grade, and an 11.0 Pass Rushing Productivity, good enough for 11th out of 47 qualifying 3-4 outside linebackers.
Perhaps more surprising however has been Babin's strength against the run, his +7.9 run defense grade is his best since we began keeping record. Babin is the only one of 50 qualifying outside linebackers without a missed tackle this season giving him a perfect Tackling Efficiency.
