Introducing the Pro Football Focus Online Championship!

I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about this exciting new adventure we're all about to embark on.

For years, we've been wanting to engage with our community in a way that is fun and meaningful. We have a great time together through our articles, on Twitter, on Sirius XM, and our podcasts, but something has been missing. The game we all love. A fantasy football contest. While there are several good contests out there, one always stood out to me as the contest that really separates the best players from the average players, so I reached out to Scott Atkins and the team at the Fantasy Football World Championships and we met out in Vegas for a little chat.

Within a few hours of conversation with Scott and Ian, I realized our goals were very similar, so we decided to explore a partnership that would change the game for fantasy players everywhere.

To that end, I'd like to introduce all of you to our brand new contest:

The Pro Football Focus Online Championship!

pff_scout_fantasy

We're in this for the long haul to make the Online Championship the biggest, most-challenging and most-rewarding contest in the country, powered by our PFF projections to help you make those critical start and sit decisions each and every weekend.

If you haven't played at ScoutFantasy yet, I can tell you a few things that stand out to me:

1. They pay the fastest of any contest. Every year their regular-season prize checks and PayPal prizes arrive before Christmas.
2. Their customer service is even faster and super friendly. Anytime I've ever had a question, their team has just been an email or a phone call away.
3. Their software is by far the best of any I've played on. I'll elaborate more on this later, but trust me, it's really good.
4. I really enjoyed their format more than other contests I've played and I look forward to being on the rules committee each off-season to tweak and improve the game as the years go by.
5. Their payout percentage is by far the highest of any national contest anywhere (and it's not even close).

Here are a few of the specifics:

Cost: $299 per team – With over $2,400+ in league prizes, a $50,000 Grand Prize and a $500,000 Mega Prize, this contest has it all!
Teams per League: 12
Roster Spots: 20 – To stash those deep sleepers we all love.
Draft Order: Serpentine style – 1-12, 12-1, 1-12 etc.
Starting Lineup Requirements: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLEX (RB-WR-TE), 1 PK, 1 DST

The 2 Flex positions allow the better drafters and those who have a deeper team to put that extra player on the field each week.

Scoring System:

PPR Scoring: 1 Point per reception – Each player, regardless of position, receives one (1) point every time he catches the ball.
QB Scoring: 4 pts per Passing TD
Touchdowns: All other Touchdowns are worth 6 points each, including punt and kickoff returns.
Yardage: 1 pts for every 10 yards rushing and receiving combined (2 decimals)

13-week regular season: You play everyone in your league exactly one time. The first two weeks of the season, are all-play, meaning the Top 6 Scorers get a win each week, while the bottom 6 scorers get a loss. As long as you put an above-average team on the field during the first two weeks while you're feeling out your lineup, you'll start the season 2-0 and ready for league head-to-head play.

Playoff Qualification:

All 12 Teams Play through a 13-Week Regular Season.
After Week 13, the Top 4 teams advance to both the League Playoffs and the Overall Championship Round.

The 4 teams will be:
Team 1: Best Record (points tie-breaker)
Team 2: Most Points (other than Team 1)
Team 3: 2nd Best Record (other than Teams 1 & 2)
Team 4: 2nd Most Points (other than Teams 1, 2 & 3)

All 4 teams will be given their average weekly score from Weeks 1-13 to start the playoffs (thus rewarding the teams that did well in the regular season). Those points combined with the most total points scored from weeks 14-16 wins the League prizes.

League Prizes: $2,400-plus – We packed the prizes into each league of 12. This should be your primary goal each season – win your league. These are by far the largest league prizes in the industry and we felt this is the most important aspect of any national contest.

Regular Season League Prizes:

Best Record after Week 13: $200
Most Points after Week 13: $200
