Every Tuesday I’ll be giving you the lowdown on which individual defensive players (IDP) to target for the upcoming week’s waiver wire, so without further ado here is this week’s under the radar prospects.
Let me start this week by offering a hearty congratulation. You made it to the dance, but, we all know that there is still one more step to take this season before we can call it a success. On that note I’m here to help you pick through the detritus left on the waiver wire. It’s more than likely your roster depth and management has played a big factor in getting you this far, but if you’re now in a IDP quandary, read on…
Defensive Lineman
Jason Babin, Jacksonville Jaguars 3 – 4% of FAAB
If you’re looking for a somewhat reliable fill-in, you can certainly do worse than Babin. With 3.5 sacks in five weeks, he’s not setting the fantasy world a buzz, but when you are scrambling the waiver wire in Week 16 for a starter, dependability is sometimes enough. There’s nothing worth than a duck egg from a player when your fantasy championship is on the line…
Andre Branch, Jacksonville Jaguars 4 – 5% of FAAB
Branch earned a mention in last week’s column and had a pretty decent game, posting five total tackles and a sack (his fourth in five games), so I’m willing to list him again as he’s hitting his stride right now. Although he didn’t make it three consecutive games with 50-plus snaps (he only played 42 last week), I stand by my assertions that you should be of playing in-form players until they prove otherwise. Seeing as only five defensive ends in the league have more sacks than Branch in the last five weeks, he seems as hot as any.
