Last week I wrote that it was “do or die time right now for teams on the cusp of the fantasy playoffs”, well now its last chance saloon territory. Time to dust off those wacky playbooks and to swing for the fences somewhat if you’re chasing a playoff berth. If you’re the team hanging on for dear life to the final spot in the fantasy post-season, perhaps some safer options are required. Regardless, lets get stuck into some Week 12 recommendations.
Defensive Lineman
The cream has really risen to the top over the last five weeks of the season when it comes to defensive end scoring. You’d be struggling to name a single player who has scored as a DE1 who seems out of place. Perhaps Everson Griffen (61 points, 4th) but he was projected as an upward trending player on the cusp of a decent season, so it’s not that big of a surprise. My point though, is that is been tough sailing for anyone looking for value at defensive end in the second half of the season. Chiefs end Allen Bailey (recommended a few weeks back) has capitalised on two of the best matchups in the last five weeks (49ers, Bills), to score a total of 38.5 points, more than the likes of Jurrell Casey, Olivier Vernon and the Jets duo of Muhammed Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson, but he’s a low upside play now he’s played those prime matchups. I’d be wary of plugging and playing Bailey in all but the direst of situations.
