IDP Waiver Wire - Week 10

Khalil Mack RaidersIt seems almost crazy that Week 10 of the NFL season is now upon us. It doesn’t feel so long ago we were talking draft strategies and pre-season rankings, yet now we’ve more than passed the halfway point of the fantasy season. For those of you on the cusp of the playoffs it’s time to be bold and make some roster moves to push your team over the edge, so let’s get straight into some recommendations.

Defensive Lineman

One of the toughest positions to find consistent points on a weekly basis is the defensive end position. By their very nature they are boom-or-bust prospects, registering just a handful of tackles, and are dependent on sacks for their fantasy points. A good way of identifying players who are due some big plays, purely by law of averages, are those who have high numbers of quarterback hits and pressures, but a low sack total.

The 4-3 defensive end with the most combined hits and hurries is Michael Bennett with nine hits, 27 hurries, but only two sacks (on 262 pass rush snaps). Bennett’s been playing some great football too, grading out at +18.2 (third best in the 4-3 end in the league) and playing 82.2 percent of defensive snaps, ensuring he has plenty of opportunity to make plays on a weekly basis. From a fantasy perspective though Bennett has been poor, as since scoring 23.5 points in the first two weeks he’s recorded just 18.5 points over the next six games. Although the fantasy gods have not been smiling on him, Bennett is playing well, and he’s on the field a lot, so there are certainly worse guys to take a punt on.
