IDP Snap Report: Week 16

While most fantasy leagues played their championship games in Week 16, there are some that still play in Week 17. There are three teams that have clinched a playoff spot and their seeding is set, and each has a linebacker situation to keep an eye on. Two of the all-time great linebackers could be returning from injury soon, and there are still a number of situations of players getting hurt or returning from injury. Here are the players that could see a different role in Week 17 than where we have seen them in the past.

Akeem Dent

With the number one seed secured, we might not see the Falcons starters last the entire game. The Falcons typically use Sean Weatherspoon every down, Stephen Nicholas in the base and nickel defense, and Akeem Dent in the base defense. If the Falcons rest anyone part way into the game, it would likely be Weatherspoon, which would bring Dent into the nickel defense.  If they also rest Nicholas, then Dent would play every down for the rest of the game. The only other linebackers on the Falcons roster are Mike Peterson and Robert James. Because the Falcons don’t have a sixth linebacker, it is very unlikely that Dent will get any rest in this game. If you want a linebacker in this game, Dent is the one to have.
