IDP Grade Recap: Week 15

The IDP grade recap compares the fantasy points of the week’s top scoring IDP’s with their Pro Football Focus grades.

Defensive Linemen

J.J. Watt, HOU (37 Fantasy Points, +7.7 PFF Grade): As noted on the PFF Twitter account recently, J.J. Watt is on pace to earn a grade of 100 for the season, and would be the first person to accomplish this since the grading system began in 2008. His fantasy owners were treated to Watt’s best performance of the season, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Watt scored a league-high 37 points, and did so with 10 total tackles, three for a loss, three sacks and a forced fumble. What an amazing year it has been for him.

Calais Campbell, ARI (22 Fantasy Points, +5.8 PFF Grade): Calais Campbell has been banged-up for most of the year, but when he’s been on the field, he’s been a difference maker. Sunday was no exception to that, as he recorded both his highest grade and highest fantasy score in a single game this season. Campbell logged eight total tackles, three for a loss, a sack and a batted pass.

Greg Hardy, CAR (21 Fantasy Points, +2.4 PFF Grade): It was another long day at the office for Philip Rivers, and Greg Hardy was a big reason why. He forced one of Rivers’ four fumbles during that game and also sacked him twice in addition to notching five tackles and one for a loss in the Panthers’ convincing win.

Linebackers

Chad Greenway, MIN (28 Fantasy Points, +1.0 PFF Grade): For the second time in three weeks, Chad Greenway has given his owners over 20 fantasy points. Though the bulk of the points came from his 14 total tackles, Greenway also added a sack and a tackle for loss to his stat sheet.

Rob Jackson, WAS (23 Fantasy Points, +2.9 PFF Grade): In place of the injured Brian Orakpo, Rob Jackson has gotten his first chance at extended action in the starting lineup and has helped the Redskins with a few big plays over the past three weeks. Sunday provided that opportunity for Jackson again, and he delivered for his deep-league owners with six total tackles, a forced fumble, an interception, a sack and two batted passes.

Zach Brown, TEN (21.5 Fantasy Points, +2.1 PFF Grade): Good things typically happen for IDP’s who get to face the Jets in a given week, and while that was the case for many Titans players, none benefitted from the matchup more than Zach Brown. In addition to sealing his dominant day with the recovery of Mark Sanchez’s fumbled snap, Brown tallied two sacks, seven total tackles and a tackle for loss.

Defensive Backs

Michael Griffin, TEN (22 Fantasy Points, +4.2 PFF Grade): Eighty-two of Michael Griffin’s 138 fantasy points this season have come in three games. Griffin’s performance on Sunday was one of those three, which likely helped his owners in very deep leagues. Griffin’s two interceptions, two batted passes and six tackles likely went a long way in advancing his owners to their championships.

Eric Berry, KC (21.5 Fantasy Points, +5.7 PFF Grade): It had been a disappointing season for Eric Berry, but he salvaged some value for owners who got burned by spending an early pick on the underperforming young safety. It was Berry’s best-graded season by far, as he showed a return to his 2010 form that had so many fans excited about his potential going forward. His 11 tackles, including two for a loss, gave his owners in dynasty leagues plenty of reason to hang onto him if they can.

Jabari Greer, NO (21 Fantasy Points, +5.0 PFF Grade): The secondary unit for the New Orleans Saints hasn’t had much to hang its hat on this season, but Jabari Greer threw a wrench in that perception with a superb outing versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His +4.6 coverage grade was his highest mark of the season in that category, and his two interceptions and four batted passes did wonders not just for his grade, but for his few lucky fantasy owners.
