Mark Barron – DB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Barron faced high expectations before he stepped foot in the NFL or even his alma mater, Alabama. A five-star recruit out of high school, Barron proceeded to be a two-time All-American his last two years at Alabama and was drafted 7th overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.
His rookie year was solid but not great. He racked up 89 tackles with 10 passes defended. However, it was viewed as a good foundation for a big sophomore season that, for one reason or another, never materialized. He did match his previous total of 89 tackles with 88 through only 14 games in 2013 before a hamstring injury sidelined him for the final two games of the year. But even before then, his passes defended were down from 10 to 6 with only two interceptions. In short, it could have been a better season.
