IDP Breakdown - Week 8 Edition

Home Stats Crew: Low volume total tackles; Solo-heavy

Eric Weddle got off the schneid in a big way, posting 13 total tackles (10 solo) in Week 7. The Broncos have been a reasonably strong matchup for safeties this season, so you’re going to start Weddle with confidence in this one. … Surprisingly, Denver hasn’t been a good matchup for corners so far in 2014. Brandon Flowers is out and Jason Verrett looks like he could also be sidelined. That leaves Shareece Wright and Richard Marshall as the likely starting corners. Despite the what the numbers say, I’d be willing to throw a dart at either player this week as a DB3. We’ve seen Marshall put up some strong numbers in the past, so I’d lean toward him over Wright. … Donald Butler also managed to top double-digits in Week 7. I doubt we see a repeat this week due to Denver’s stingy home crew, but Butler is still a startable backend LB2.

Brandon Marshall was back in an every-down role with Danny Trevathan sidelined, and posted a solid eight solo tackles in the process. Nate Irving only played 23 snaps, and should not be considered as a fantasy option unless he gets back into a full-time role. … Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware continued to dominate in Week 7. Ware had three sacks on four QB pressures, and Miller posted two sacks on seven QB pressures. However, this is a much tougher matchup for the duo, as the Chargers yield the third fewest fantasy points to outside pass rushers. You’re not going to bench Miller and/or Ware, but don’t overreact if they have a bad week.
