IDP Breakdown – Week 4 Edition

Home Stats Crew: Moderate to high volume total tackles; Assist-heavy

With Jon Beason sidelined for the Giants last week, Jameel McClain played every snap and posted 11 total tackles (eight solo). Beason is doubtful to play in Week 4, so you can squeeze at least one more week out of McClain. I’m not blown away by the matchup though, so I wouldn’t trust McClain as anything more than a borderline LB3. The same can be said for Jacquain Williams. … The Giants have benched Stevie Brown in favor of Quintin Demps. Brown really struggled in coverage through the first three games, and he won’t start on Thursday night. If you haven’t already, it’s time to cut bait with Brown.

Granted, Washington faced a putrid Jags offensive line two weeks ago and racked up a jaw dropping 10 sacks, but they were arguably just as disruptive last week. Ryan Kerrigan had another strong outing, posting nine QB pressures. Unfortunately, as a linebacker, Kerrigan is really only useful in big-play scoring systems. However, Jason Hatcher has value in all IDP formats. The former Cowboy has been better than advertised despite it looking as though he’d be a free agent bust following a dicey preseason. Hatcher has been nothing short of spectacular with 2.5 sacks on 11 QB pressures out of the 5-technique. He’s a sneaky DL2 play in this one. … IDP mainstay DeAngelo Hall landed on injured reserve with a torn Achilles’ tendon. While some have speculated that David Amerson would replace Hall, Amerson will remain at right cornerback. He’s also not likely to pick up Hall’s IDP production. Alas, there’s no fantasy value to be had from this situation.
