NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at Oakland RaidersKansas City @ Oakland

Home stat crew: Low volume tackles; Neutral assist-to-solo ratio

Projected tackles: Kansas City – 41.96 solo, 8.30 assist; Oakland – 50.19 solo, 9.93 assist

If you started Eric Berry last week, he got you five tackles in a bad matchup against Seattle. It’s not terrible, but that sort of production isn’t going to win you any fantasy weeks. Berry gets another clunker of a matchup in this one against a Raiders team that yields the second fewest tackles per game to defensive backs. … Ron Parker really pops in last week’s box score, with 11 solo tackles against Seattle. However, he really should be left on the wire in most leagues. Parker saw eight targets on Sunday, allowing catches on all eight. He’s not the best cover corner in the league, but it’s unlikely he’ll be this bad again this season. Still, Parker has put up decent numbers in recent weeks. Those in deep leagues that start multiple cornerbacks may want to consider Parker.

Anyone who ran out and picked up Larry Asante after his one-week outburst, were seriously disappointed after he saw just 11 snaps and recorded one tackle against the Chargers. This is why you don’t chase last week’s stats. Toss Asanted back in free agency. Charles Woodson remains the only fantasy-relevant Raiders defensive back. Woodson is a back-end DB1 in this one. … Justin Tuck was essentially unblockable down the stretch last season. So far in 2014, he’s almost unstartable for fantasy purposes. Tuck’s low tackle floor and inability to generate sacks are reason enough to avoid him in IDP leagues.
