Here are the top takeaways from Sunday night’s Packers-Patriots game, including the highest graded players for each team:
Packers:
— Second rounder Quinten Rollins dropped two interceptions, but can be happy with his day that saw him allow 5-of-10 balls thrown into his coverage for just 26 yards.
— Former Stanford linebacker James Vaughters only got 13 snaps to show his worth but managed to turn to pick up a pressure, a defensive stop and a further tackle in an impressive cameo.
— Not a great start to the preseason for HaHa Clinton-Dix who didn’t show enough control coming down to support in the run game, missing three tackles, two of which came on back to back plays.
Top 5 graded players:
James Vaughters (+3.3)
Ladarius Gunter (+3.2)
Quinten Rollins (+2.7)
Andy Phillips (+2.0)
Mike Pennel (+1.8)
Patriots:
— Nobody made a stronger impression than former Saints sixth rounder Rufus Johnson who feasted on the Packers backup lineman. He ended the day with a sack, hit, two hurries, a batted pass and a couple of other pressures called back on penalties.
— Bad news for Jimmy Garoppolo fans. He had the lowest grade on the day and really struggled against the blitz with a terrible -3.2 grade in this regard.
— Rob Ninkovich and Chandler Jones may get a rest this year. Both Trey Flowers and Jabaal Sheard got some pressure in limited action, with Flowers even bested starter David Bakhtiari for a sack and a hit.
Top 5 graded players:
Rufus Johnson (+7.6)
Chris Barker (+1.6)
Robert McClain (+1.4)
Trey Flowers (+1.2)
Jordan Richards (+1.2)
