Giants: Rookies shine in Tennessee

PFF-headlinesIt hasn't been a banner season for the New York Giants, they are 4-9 and out of playoff contention. However if any Giant's fan is searching for some optimism, they need only look back at the standout performances of four of the teams rookies in Week 14 against the titans.

Injuries at linebacker gave Devon Kennard the opportunity to start in Week 11, and he hasn't looked back. His +3.6 overall grade ranks ninth among 4-3 outside linebackers in the last four weeks, while he is one of only two qualifying players at the position without a missed tackle in that period. Kennard had his best game of the season against the Titans, with two sacks and five total stops on his way to +2.9 grade.

Most of the praise for the Giants rookie class has rightfully focused on Odell Beckham Jr., and he continued his excellent season with a +1.3 receiving grade against the Titans. However Beckham's efforts were matched by those of fellow rookies, running back Andre Williams, guard Weston Richburg. Williams forced five missed tackles and was second among Week 14 rushers by averaging 4.75 yards after contact en route to an 88.0 Elusive Rating. Richburg (+2.3) earned his second-best grade of the season; his +1.8 run blocking grade helping pave the way for Williams.
