Each week I’ll comb through the options at each position to bring you my picks for the players with the best combination of safety and upside over a wide price range. These are guys you’ll use in cash games for the most part, but there’s nothing wrong with slotting a couple into your tournament lineups as well for stability. The way Week 9 lays out there is a lot of value. Because value tends to come with a larger variance, I’ve given an extra QB and TE play to help you distribute the risk that going cheap can bring.
Quarterback
I’m going to show you the respect of not writing about Tom Brady this week, as I assume you know he’s a great play. There are a bunch of mid-priced quarterbacks who I like this week, including Ben Roethlisberger ($6600), Drew Brees ($7200), and Philip Rivers ($6900), but I and others have written about them extensively this season. So here are a couple of low priced options that I think can be used in cash games this week if you want to load up on high-priced wide receiver, running back, and tight end, as I do.
Derek Carr $5500: Carr has been excellent in back-to-back tough matchups with San Diego and the Jets, giving me confidence to use him in a high scoring game with PFF’s second worst rated pass coverage unit. He’s been solid enough for cash games-we can excuse the underwhelming performance against Denver-but has shown the upside you want in tournaments as well.
