This is your last and final stop. It’s fantasy championship week, and there’s a lot of work to be done on a short week. The pickings are extremely thin on the wire, but we do have some potential gold sitting out there.
Remember, we cast a wide net every week in our waiver-wire advice. Players are listed in order of priority and the suggested auction budget percentage is in parentheses.
Keep in mind that some leagues may be more aggressive or conservative in terms of bidding, so know your league tendencies. It’s suggested that you work your way down the list and prioritize the top players in your waiver claims for this week.
Note: For the final two weeks of the season, waiver wire recommendations will be for all league sizes.
Quarterback
1. Matt Barkley, Chicago (5%) – Largely laughed off by the fantasy community when he took over the starting job, Barkley has been a pleasant surprise for the Bears. In four games as a starter, he’s thrown for six touchdowns and topped 300 yards twice. Those numbers certainly won’t put him in a gold jacket, but Barkley’s outplaying Jay Cutler and has been able to salvage fantasy value for the Chicago receivers. He’s worth a look as a QB2 in Week 16.
2. Tom Savage, Houston (1%) – Like Barkley, Savage stepped in and outplayed the starter, in this case Brock Osweiler, leading the Texans to a comeback win on Sunday. Savage showed good rapport with DeAndre Hopkins, peppering him with targets throughout the game. He’ll start over Osweiler in Week 16 and could end up being an asset in deep 2QB leagues.
