The NFL playoffs change everything for DFS. During Wild Card weekend, we went contrarian with two out of our three stacks, only for the favorites to win across the board, meaning our picks didn’t play as well as we would’ve hoped. But the process is in place to yield big results in large-pool tournaments. With only eight teams playing during the Divisional Round, rolling out the contrarian stacks makes more sense now than ever. With that in mind, it will also be important to target the highest-scoring game — the Wild Card round was missing this game.
As always, we’ll factor in price, value, upside and ownership. You don’t want to run out a stack that most of the field is playing — that’s a recipe for not standing out in large-field tournaments. Our goal is to find you a stack that you can feel confident using, but also one that will allow to take a more contrarian approach to DFS tournaments.
We’ll look to grab a stack on each of the main DFS sites that has a lot of upside and one you can get back value with so you can spend at other positions. Let’s jump right in.

Dak Prescott, QB; Terrance Williams, WR (Cowboys vs. Packers)
The Wild Card round featured just two quarterbacks whose profiles stood out above the rest — Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger. The options are limited, but it’s important to realize their ownership should be through the roof based on recency bias. Rodgers will be the top-owned quarterback this week against the Cowboys defense, and this makes Prescott an excellent contrarian play.
This contrarian stack is completed with the addition of Williams. Keep in mind that those who will be running any variation of a Rodgers stack will likely pull in Dez Bryant. One of the most common stacking strategies is to also include a wide receiver from the opposing team. Bryant has the name-brand value and he is also the only Cowboys wide receiver viewed as a consistent option.
