It’s been an interesting year to say the least. We had the Lions come off an embarrassing loss to the Bears in Week 4, only to beat an undefeated Eagles team who was coming off their bye in Week 5. Then we witnessed the Falcons go into Denver and dominate the Broncos, leaving the Vikings as the only undefeated team in the league. We haven’t even discussed the fact that the Vikings are doing this without their starting quarterback, running back and left tackle. So to say that it’s been an interesting year would be an understatement.
Here, we will try and solve the scrambled puzzle for Week 6, determining which defense you should be streaming. It’s become a popular strategy to stream defenses, so I’ve been trying to give at least three to four options each week, knowing that some may not be available in your league. With the bye weeks, it only gets tougher, but let’s see who you should consider playing in Week 6.
Buffalo Bills (vs. 49ers)
This one likely comes down to whether you read this article last week, because the Bills were the No. 1 recommendation. If you were able to get them, hold onto them for another week, as they’ll return home to play against a 49ers team that looks to be starting either Colin Kaepernick or Christian Ponder under center, unless they stick with Blaine Gabbert, which looks increasingly unlikely. Some may say that the two replacement options are an upgrade over Gabbert, but they aren’t, at least for what we’re concerned with. Of the nine games Kaepernick played last year, the opposing defense scored at least six points in six of the games, and 12 or more points in four of them. Through five games this season, there have been three defenses who’ve scored four or less points against the 49ers and Gabbert.
