The best defenses to stream in fantasy in Week 11

When looking at the schedule for fantasy defenses for Week 11, the options on your league’s waiver wire are about as appetizing as they’re going to get. Now don’t get me wrong, streaming defenses is not the easiest thing to do. However, when deciding which of the many defenses that look to be good plays in Week 11, we are going to look for a few things.

First, you should prefer a defense that is going to be at home. After that, you’re obviously going to be looking at the strengths and weaknesses of their opponent. And once you do that, you’ll likely have a home favorite. That’s the ideal streamer, so let’s find out which of them matches that description this week.

New York Giants (vs. Bears)

The Giants have not been a very good fantasy defense to own this year. Perhaps that’s why they are owned in just 11 percent of Yahoo leagues. But every defense has their day for streaming purposes. They are at home (where they play better), will be a favorite in this game, and are playing against the Bears. Let’s start with the whole “being at home” thing. It’s odd that it works like this for a defense, but they have totaled 11 sacks in their previous five home games, while offering up just three sacks in their four road games. Matching that up against a Bears offensive line that just lost Kyle Long for the season and the Giants should be able to get after Jay Cutler, who is taking a sack once every 9.5 dropbacks. No other quarterback who has played at least 25 percent of their team snaps has taken a sack in any less than one of every 12.4 dropbacks. Cutler is also throwing an interception once every 26.7 pass attempts, and may throw even more now that he’s missing Alshon Jeffery, who has been suspended for four games. This could get ugly for Cutler and the Bears offense, but not for your fantasy team.

Do you prefer the Giants D over DET ?

Excellent take, Michael. One of these “home” teams will be playing in Mexico City.
