As always, we’ll kick off this column by looking back at the 10 players we advised to start or sit in the week before. We hit on our fringe start/sit quarterbacks. Both Ben Roethlisberger and Eli Manning scored more than the alternatives you were likely considering. DeVante Parker was on his way to a big game but he got injured on a long reception that was overturned. He also had a touchdown overturned. We’re taking a push on that one. Running backs were tough for us — both Rashad Jennings and Thomas Rawls struggled with volume and didn’t score in premier matchups.
Breaking down the players we advised to sit went a lot smoother. Alex Smith and Matthew Stafford were best left on your bench. Matt Forte and Jeremy Hill carried hype in the form of volume heading into the game, but neither did much. We had one swing and miss — Terrelle Pryor. To be fair, Pryor didn’t get going until the second half when the Giants used zone coverage.
Anyway, now it’s time to jump into Week 13’s start/sit advice. Let’s go.
Start
Colin Kaepernick, QB, 49ers (vs. Bears)
Is Kaepernick officially back? His game tape in Week 12 would suggest it. Before we jump back onto the real-life quarterback bandwagon, we need a larger sample size of games like Week 12. As far as fantasy football goes, we’ve seen what we need to. Kaepernick has been piling up fantasy points over the past four weeks. Over that time span, only Aaron Rodgers has more fantasy points than Kaepernick.
