4 underwhelming fantasy WRs and what to do with them

Remember when “Zero RB” was all the rage during the preseason? The idea was that the top-tier running backs are hit-or-miss, so it makes sense to focus on the wide receivers at the top of your draft because they are more predictable and they will be less volatile when it comes to producing fantasy points.

For the most part, that theory is sound. Todd Gurley, Adrian Peterson (even prior to his injury), Mark Ingram, Devonta Freeman and Eddie Lacy have disappointed. But the wide receiver position has a handful of question marks, as well.

After two games, here are the top-20 wide receivers in the league based on standard scoring:

1. Kelvin Benjamin, CAR
2. Larry Fitzgerald, ARZ
3. Willie Snead, NO
4. Stefon Diggs, MIN
5. Brandin Cooks, NO
6. Mike Wallace, BAL
7. Corey Coleman, CLV
8. Julio Jones, ATL
9. Mike Evans, TB
10. DeAndre Hopkins, HST
11. Antonio Brown, PIT
12. Eric Decker, NYJ
13. A.J. Green, CIN
14. Will Fuller, HST
15. Travis Benjamin, SD
16. Jordy Nelson, GB
17. Sterling Shepard, NYG
18. Quincy Enunwa, NYJ
19. Danny Amendola, NE
20. Amari Cooper, OAK

Of course, a two-game slate is a small sample size, Also, Chicago and Philadelphia play Monday night, so their wide receivers could break into the list. Notice there are some key players absent from that list. Odell Beckham Jr., Allen Robinson, T.Y. Hilton and Golden Tate are frustrating fantasy players.

It’s time to ask ourselves, is it time to panic, or can we relax?

Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants

Beckham still leads his team in targets (19) and catches (12), but barely. Beckham’s 12 catches have gone for 159 yards and zero touchdowns. Rookie Sterling Shepard is 11-of-12 for 160 yards and a touchdown. More surprisingly, Victor Cruz is 8-of-11 for 125 yards and a touchdown.

Good article – how about Randall Cobb?

Seconded. Really disappointed in Cobb as I was hoping the GB offense would return to 2014 form where Cobb was the WR10. Unfortunately, Rodgers has looked really poor thus far, especially last night. Is Cobb even a WR3?

He was my next option. Word count aside, I’m nervous. Good luck!

Glad I have Evans, Diggs, and Decker. Also have Tate but he’s collecting dust on the bench where he belongs.

That feeling when you have 3 of these 4 and Keenan on you team -____-

  • Attention to Detail

Odell Beckham plays for the New York Giants, not the New York Jets.

Hey, I don’t see where it says Jets. Hopefully my editor helped me out and it’s gone. Thanks for reading.

I thought Golden Tate was gonna be wayyyyyy better this year considering the year he had when Johnson went down a few seasons ago…what happened to him?
