Frank Gore should be going ahead of Jonathan Stewart in fantasy drafts

It’s getting tougher and tougher to find value in fantasy drafts, but there are some players who are still not quite where they should be. When shuffling through the ADP, I came across two players who were a little ways apart, but in fairness, they really shouldn’t be. (Check the rest of my draft battles.)

They are both veterans who have played at least eight seasons in the NFL, so we should know what they offer, right? Apparently not, because the ADPs of Jonathan Stewart and Frank Gore sit almost 20 players apart. Stewart is going off draft boards at the end of the fourth round, while Gore can be had in the middle of the sixth round. Is Stewart being taken too high, or is Gore being taken too low? Well, below you’ll see why I’m saying that, considering draft values, Gore is the one you want this year.

Volume

It’s easy to simply say that both of them will be the workhorses for their teams, but what does that actually mean from a volume standpoint? Fortunately for us, neither of them got new head coaches or offensive coordinators in 2016, making projections a whole lot easier.

Let’s start with Stewart, who carried the ball a career-high 242 times in 2015. With DeAngelo Williams leaving via free agency, the workhorse role was sitting there for the taking, as Williams and Stewart had split the team’s carries over the last five years under Ron Rivera.
