PFF’s fantasy football cheat sheet for Week 4


One game of Week 4 is in the books. It featured only two touchdowns in a Thursday night in Cincinnati, but the Dolphins and Bengals have at least gotten things going. The first piece of fantasy football advice for fantasy players is to set lineups early — the Colts and Jaguars play Sunday morning in London at 9:30 a.m. ET, so players who normally set their lineups in the noon hour could find themselves in a bind. Also, remember the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles are on Week 4 byes.

Beyond that, we’re back again offering our best fantasy advice of the week all in one spot. You’ll do your best to read everything and all the arguments, but if you only have a minute, this will get you going.

Below, you’ll find five of our top pieces of advice from the week, with links to the pieces the advice is drawn from. After that, you’ll find links to the rest of our season-long content for the week, and from there we move on to our DFS advice. This is your fantasy-football everything for Week 4.

Season-long fantasy

Sell Oakland RB Latavius Murray

Murray is the No. 15 fantasy running back through three weeks. He’s done that, though, on only 40 touches; no other running back in the top 20 has so few. The how is simple, as Murray has found the end zone in each of the Raiders’ three games so far. All told, Murray has played in less than half of the team’s offensive snaps, ceding time to DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard. Murray is averaged 13.3 touches per game, and traditionally the only running backs who success with that few carries catch a lot of passes, which Murray does not.

Add Chicago RB Jordan Howard

Starting RB Jeremy Langford is reportedly out four to six weeks with an ankle sprain, and even if he weren’t injured, his grasp on the starting job was growing increasingly tenuous. After missing Week 1, Howard had three carries in Week 2 and then nine in Week 3 as he got his feet under him, so to speak. With Ka’Deem Carey unlikely to return in Week 4, that leaves Howard, Joique Bell and Raheem Mostert as the Bears’ running backs, which should mean a healthy workload for Howard.

Sit Tampa Bay QB Jameis Winston

Winston has two weeks of 25-plus fantasy points out of three outings, including a Week 3 game in which he succeeded in garbage time. Being able to count on a fantasy quarterback for garbage-time production is handy, but don’t count on it from Winston this week, as he takes on a Denver defense that, even if the team wins handily, doesn’t often allow much in the way of garbage-time production.

Start Detroit WR Marvin Jones

Jones is off to a blazing start in 2016, with 408 yards and two scores in three games. He isn’t exactly likely to continue his current historic pace, but he’s established himself as a top fantasy option for now. As long as he’s producing at this level, he needs to be in every fantasy lineup.

Stream Washington QB Kirk Cousins

Cousins started his 2016 slowly, but has improved his QB rating and yards per attempt each week so far. He was one of the top 10 fantasy QBs in Week 3 for the first time. Now, he draws a Cleveland defense that has allowed multiple passing touchdowns every game and let opposing quarterbacks (Carson Wentz in his NFL debut, Joe Flacco and Ryan Tannehill) put up 60 fantasy points so far, a rate that would be the No. 9 fantasy quarterback through three weeks.
