Season-long fantasy

Bench Jacksonville WR Allen Hurns
(from Dan Schneier’s start/sit advice)

The Jacksonville receiver was already a candidate for regression this season after a great 2015. At first glance, his Week 2 opponent, San Diego, is appealing, but with CB Brandon Flowers in the slot not, Hurns could run into more issues than you might expect.

Start Atlanta RB Devonta Freeman
(from Jeff Ratcliffe’s flex rankings)

Week 1 put a scare into all the Freeman owners, but we aren’t yet to “bench him” territory. The Falcons didn’t really put Freeman into great position to succeed in Week 1. If he can get into better situations, Freeman gets at least one more week to re-prove himself.

Add Denver RB Devontae Booker
(from Jeff Ratcliffe’s waiver wire check)

Booker’s first NFL carry was pretty disastrous, as he lost a fumble in the NFL opener with no other games to distract people. It led to a huge game from C.J. Anderson. Still, Booker is the only real candidate to be the handcuff for Anderson, and provided he doesn’t continue to struggle with fumbles, Booker will get more chances. He’s worth an add in deeper leagues.

Sell Arizona WR Larry Fitzgerald
(from Mike Tagliere’s stock market check)

Fitzgerald had a big Week 1, notching two touchdowns. Of course, he was one of the league’s top receivers early in 2015 as well, and he faded over the course of the season. He’s 33 now, and teammates John Brown and Michael Floyd (plus running back David Johnson) will have their moments this season. Fitzgerald is a fine back-end fantasy starter, but don’t treat him like much more than that.

Stream Cincinnati QB Andy Dalton
(from Mike Castiglione’s look at under-the-radar quarterbacks)

Dalton put up strong numbers in Week 1 against one of last season’s top-10 fantasy defenses. The Steelers decidedly weren’t a top-10 unit last year, meaning Dalton should have an easier go of it. And of course, he always has A.J. Green out there catching passes. Dalton hasn’t been treated as a fantasy starter in most leagues, but he has all the makings of one.
