Every Tuesday I will be bringing you the NFL players who have somehow flown under the fantasy radar and are owned in far too few leagues given their production and/or ceiling. Injuries and byes are inevitable, too.
With the first game of the week a mere 48 hours away, here are some players that are on quite a few waiver wires out there that simply shouldn’t be.
Quarterback
Jason Campbell, Cleveland Browns (Yahoo 4% owned; ESPN 0.8%) – 2% FAAB
The Browns are continuing to chuck the ball all over the field, regardless of who is under center and regardless of the quality of defense they are opposing. Campbell completed 22 of 36 passes for 293 yards and two scores (not to mention 0 turnovers) against a top five defense in the Kansas City Chiefs. I was encouraged by his willingness to target Josh Gordon (10 targets, one of which resulted in a 37 yard touchdown) down the field (15.4 aDOT) and his connection with phoneme tight end Jordan Cameron (four targets resulted in four catches for 81 yards).
The schedule doesn’t do Campbell any favors, but the attempts (Cleveland starting quarterbacks have thrown 121 passes over the last three weeks, 16 more than Drew Brees has thrown in his last three games) figure to be constant as the Browns will continue to play from behind.
