Five players who will make the 2017 Fantasy 101

By now, you’ve likely had a chance to dive into our Fantasy 101 for 2016. If you haven’t, now’s the time. It was a look just at the season to come. Looking further down the road, here are five players I see as prime candidates for breakouts this year that will propel them to the 2017 version of the list.

These aren’t all rookies. They’re just players who should have the right mix of playing time and talent to thrive this year and lodge themselves firmly in the collective fantasy mind for next season.

1. Tavon Austin, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Austin just missed our Top 101 this year, but after a full season with the best quarterback he’s played with since entering the NFL (maybe ever? Geno Smith?), that could change. Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said he wants to get Austin 100 catches this year, and although that seems unlikely to even the biggest Austin or Fisher truther, he doesn’t need catch volume to be one of the 101 most valuable fantasy players.
