Fantasy preview of the Big Ten West

Moving on from the stacked and talent-laden Big Ten East (catch up here), we will examine the West Division of the conference.

Illinois Fighting Illini

The arrival of new head coach Lovie Smith signals big things for the Illini, but the expected level of success should not be anywhere near the improvement in Ann Arbor when Jim Harbaugh took over. Even after hiring Smith and Hardy Nickerson Sr., Illinois has yet to sign a recruit rated higher than three stars. Athletes will want to see a consistent coaching tenure before the big-time talent will follow. The cons for 2016 begin with another lost season for talented wide receiver Mike Dudek after another knee injury. The offensive line will lose nearly half of 2015 snaps and the defense lost more than 5,000 snaps.
