Between now and the start of the season, the main reason a player’s stock could be on the rise or on the decline is how they play in training camp as well as injuries. For the most part players, getting added or cut won’t have a big impact, but there are a few free agents remaining who could shake things up on their new team, and potentially have value themselves. At the beginning of the week, the biggest name available was Arian Foster, but even with him signed, there are still some interesting names remaining.
Here are the top four players who could find a team before the start of the season and change the fantasy landscape.
Anquan Boldin, WR
What he can bring: Despite Boldin’s age, his quarterbacks and missing two games in the middle of the season, Boldin put up WR4 numbers in his last year with the 49ers in 2015. His quality of play has been on the decline in recent years. His yards after the catch per catch declined from 5.0 in 2013 to 4.9 in 2014 and 4.4 last year. The reason he’s been able to stay a WR4 last year was the number of targets he saw. He was at 107, which was 26th-most for wide receivers. Even though his play has declined and he will be 36 by midseason, if he can maintain average play on a healthy number of targets, he can remain in the WR4-WR5 conversation.
